Yes! They made it! My client Balldo crushed his Indiegogo campaign raising more than $56.000!
I'm sure you were all waiting for the results, having reached $14.000 in just 10 hours the result couldn't have been not remarkable. I'm very happy and satisfied as I followed this project from the beginning, sure it was my first time working on an ''adult stuff'' crowdfunding campaign.

Jerry and Elizabeth are the dream team behind the Balldo project, I'm so proud of my client's achievement and glad they followed my advice to build their campaign. Other than smashing their initial goal and exceeding it of $6000 more in less than 10 hours, they also managed to gather more than 740 backers passionate about their project.
I already gave a hint of what Balldo is about, essentially we're talking about a man and couple sex toy. By the way, if you want more info about how it works you can check their campaign and youtube video that went viral and later we'll find out why.
First of you may already know that adult's kind of campaigns cannot be run inside of common Indiegogo categories, in fact, there is a special category inside the platform called ''after dark''.
Watch out, there's a bad and a good aspect about the after-dark section: the inconvenient thing is that you can launch the greatest campaign of Indiegogo, but you cannot be promoted by the platform itself because of the content, the good thing though is that you can still benefit from the platform credibility to collect backers.
That being said, the main reason that lead Balldo to its amazing goal is a good Community, they really made a great job on creating a warm and engaged community.
All of that was thanks to our ''behind the scenes'' work, the team carefully followed the tips I gave them and managed to become relevant and to collect potential backers in the last 2 months. Here's how:
Firstly, they created a place in which they described their product in a detailed way and so a landing page where they collected all their leads. There they managed to showcase their product and collect people interested in backing their project.
Secondly, they needed to drive the right traffic to the page in order to collect people interested in their campaign. They used one of the 3 main ways to collect emails.
Then they posted their landing page inside several different Facebook groups with the highest engagement in this field.
From that moment the Youtube video embedded inside their landing page became viral and they managed to collect more than 161.000 views on their pre-launch product presentation, reaching thousands of likes and hundreds of comments.
Needless to say, that increased the exposure of their landing page throughout the right communities making them able to gather thousands of leads with very low efforts. The video is hilarious and well made, especially because we're talking about sensitive issues and they managed to deliver it in the greatest way possible. I definitely suggest you to check it out.
Another key point for this success is that their communication involved testimonials. They produced some pieces of their product and let some couples try them in their ''private moments''. The result was the creation of a video testimonial that they featured on the landing page as well, and that gave the project a more human and realistic touch. This lead to a community's rising curiosity to try it on their own.
Well, this was a success indeed, but it wasn't that easy, Balldo founders were really brave and smart enough to turn a sensitive topic into a thousand dollars' worth campaign! There are some considerations to be made at the end of the campaign though and I'm sure that they will help you understand more this success and try to apply it to your strategy.
1. First of all, Balldo team managed to reach this fantastic goal without even running Facebook Ads, that's because it is not possible to feature adult's stuff for promotion, so all the leads were generated only through a good SEO strategy, word of mouth and their viral video!
2. There had been some things I'd rather done differently in order to get a bigger boost, for example adding the reward with a bundle of 3 products at the beginning of the campaign, not during. Why? You have to set the average expenses of the backer to a higher level, so if they have a choice between the basic package which had the cost of $69, and the big bundle of 10 products which cost $500, there was no in-between so the backers had a very limited choice. You should never limit the backer's spendings on the platform page, so think about adding a combo of 2 or more products in order to give more choice.
3. Last but not least, one great move actually was that of keeping their landing page online. Instead of redirecting the landing page's traffic to the campaign through URL, they decided to put a ''shop now'' button onto the landing page. This was made because it was not possible to explain the full product inside the Indiegogo page, but it was possible to explain everything in detail inside a landing page, that was a good move because people understood the product better and then they went straight to buy it!
