1. PEBBLE TIME

The winner of the most-backed Kickstarter project is Pebble Time, the first smart-watch that managed to raise 20.338.986 $ and to drive people crazy with its innovative features! This was not the first campaign for the Pebble Technology team, in fact, they launched their first crowdfunding campaign in 2012, and beat their own record by over $10 million dollars! But...all that glitters is not gold, in fact, despite the success and all the efforts, Pebble Technology was soon full of debts, and that ended up being purchased by Fitbit, which now owns the whole company.

2. COOLEST COOLER

coolest cooler mattia di stasi

Coolest Cooler is probably the most famous cooler out there is not JUST a cooler, it also features a blender, wireless speakers, USB charger, led light, and more! So cool that it raised 13.285.226 $ from pic-nic passionate backers and it became the second most funded Kickstarter campaign. It really went viral, so that everyone already pictured their summer holidays with their own Coolest Cooler, but something went wrong and it turned out to be one of the biggest crowdfunding fail! In fact, the Coolest Cooler team failed to deliver the product to all the backers due to production issues. It's a pity that a product with this hype turned out to be such a let down.

3. FROSTHAVEN

frosthaven mattia di stasi

We've already talked about the most funded board game on Kickstarter that raised $12.969.608: Frosthaven. It's amazing how so many passionate people have been backing this boardgame so much that it has surpassed a million dollars! These guys just smashed every record in their industry, collecting more than 84 thousand backers throughout the world.

Starting from 2015, the creator, Isaac Childres, launched 4 campaigns, each one proposing a new game, and surely, this is what led its campaign to success. The first one was called ''Forge war'' which raised around $100.000 at that time. The second launch was ''Gloomhaven'' in 2017, where he managed to raise around $400 thousand in the first edition and almost $4 million for the second edition, which was a ''Gloomhaven'' spin-off boardgame called ''Founders of Gloomhaven''.

4. PEBBLE 2

pebble 2 mattia di stasi

Another big achievement for Pebble, raising $12,779,843 , has achieved 2 spots in the most funded Kickstarter campaigns list! Pebble 2 is the invention that closed Pebble Technology activities before being purchased by Fitbit. It all went good, but the problem in 2017 was that they were in a huge competition against Apple, Samsung and a flooded smartwatch market. What's even sadder is that even though Pebble was the first in the smart watch market, once bigger companies found there was a demand they all had the money to execute and burn through cash faster.

5. KINGDOM DEATH: MONSTER 1.5

kingdom death mattia di stasi

Another board game on the top list of the most fundend projects on Kickstarter, we're talking about Kingdom Death , a complex game that collected $12,393,139! The creator of this game though, is not a stranger to crowdfunding, in fact, he launched a campaign in 2009 to build a figurine called The Foresaker. It raised $1,741 by 38 backers. His second attempt on Kickstarter was for the app of Kingdom Death in 2009.

Kingdom Death was launched on Kickstarter in 2015 but the upgraded version is available just now. When the project first launched it held the record for the second most-funded game on Kickstarter!

6. TRAVEL TRIPOD

travel tripod mattia di stasi

A portable tripod lightweight and made of carbon fiber that managed to raise $12,143,435, it is noticeable that of course, we're talking about a comfortable and flexible object that can fulfill the needs of many people out there, and that's the matter of the success of Travel Tripod by Peak Design! More than 27 thousand people backed the project and contribute to the success of this useful tool!

7. CRITICAL ROLE: THE LEGEND OF VOX MACHINA ANIMATED SPECIAL

critical role mattia di stasi

What made this campaign reach the top 10 most funded projects? Critical Role is a weekly live-streamed role-playing game that features famous voice actors that raised $11.385.449. Their original series finished in 2017 and reached 115 episodes, it centers around a storyline about a group of adventurers known as Vox Machina.

The stream was very successful, so they decided to crete an animated series and that’s where the project took off. With an already loyal fan base, Critical Role exceeded their goal by over $10 Million. Look for the animated series to be released in 2020.

8. PEBBLE E-PAPER

pebble e-paper mattia di stasi

Pebble Technology doesn't cease to amaze us, we've already seen 2 successful campaigns and here we go with the third! Pebble E-paper smartwatch manages to raise $10.266.845. In 2012 this was the most-funded Kickstarter project in history. But as we saw earlier in 2017 Fitbit Purchased Pebble Technology for $23 Million and laid off over 60% of the employees.

Pebble E-paper was the ''father'' of the smartwatches we all know, easy to customize with apps such as heart rate monitoring, exercise tracking, and more. It also connected with smartphones through Bluetooth, and alerts you to incoming calls, emails and text messages.
After the successful campaign in 2012, Apple came out with their smartwatch 1 year later. Pebble couldn’t compete with Apple and sales declined, so we now wonder where Apple got the idea from!

9. TRAVEL JACKET BY BAUBAX

travel jacket mattia di stasi

One of the most funded clothing crowdfunding campaigns is ''The World's Best Travel Jacket'' which managed to raise $9,192,055! This jacket could literally do anything, and one of its most amazing features is the neck pillow. The new 2.0 version of the jacket has more than 20 features and comes in different styles, there are also straps specifically designed for Apple AirPods.

Not to be outdone by creating the most funded jacket, Baubax has launched the most funded pair of pants in crowdfunding history on Indiegogo!

10. WYRMWOOD GAMING TABLE

WYRMWOOD GAMING TABLE mattia di stasi

Could you believe me if I told you that a table is in the top 10 most funded Kickstarter projects? Yes, it is, Wyrmwood Gaming Table has raised $ 8.808.136!  We're talking about an amazingly customizable and revolutionary table that evolves over a lifetime. Innovative, yet affordable, with magnetic accessories. It can contain your games inside and just close again to let enjoy your day!

This table was thought especially for gamers that like to play with friends and would like to have a big table or a small one, you can purchase other specific pieces to make the table taller or larger!

WRAPPING IT UP

This is it for today, this amazing list of the 10 most funded Kickstarter projects really gave us an idea about the market and the most famous product that made the history of crowdfunding!

Keep in mind that there isn’t one specific thing that people in Kickstarter are looking for, because backers want something awesome and that fulfills a desire. The best projects are the ones that make people wonder why that never existed before. So what are you waiting for to launch your first product on Kickstarter? You could be on the next list!

Always remember to create a community of interested people around your new product, gather them and keep these people warm with special and detailed content about your new product, in order to make them want to support you and be part of your journey.

If you want to analyze and prepare your pre-launch phase to launch your first product I’ve got you covered with my crowdfunding pre-launch free e-book called ''3 steps to success on Kickstarter and Indiegogo''.
