2. KICKSTARTER STATISTICS THAT WILL HELP YOU

Kickstarter's statistics will help you to study the market and the potential of reward-based crowdfunding campaigns.

Analyzing the project successfully funded on Kickstarter you'll see that they are 230,425! You can also notice that most projects get funding between $1,000 to $9,999. Among all of these projects, almost 680 reached $1 Million!

Most successfully funded projects raise around $10,000, but a growing number have reached six, seven, and even eight figures, in fact, the most funded project on Kickstarter in 2022 reached $41,754,153 and it's Surprise! Four Secret Novels by Brandon Sanderson.

Besides successful campaigns, unsuccessful campaigns could help too, you may notice that they only reach 1% to 20% of their funding goal, that's why it is important to build a community of followers that will assure you at least 30% of the funding, in order to gain momentum and be promoted by Kickstarter, making the road to success much easier.

Don't forget to focus on the pre-launch in order to gather a community of interested people that will be active by the first hours your campaign will be live, this will trigger the Kickstarter algorithm and eventually push you to the ''Project we love'' category.

thanks to that statistics you can go deeper or project's categories in order to see if your project could fit and be perfect for crowdfunding on Kickstarter. We'll see some examples now.

3. KICKSTARTER CATEGORIES STATISTICS. WILL YOUR PROJECT WORK?

It is important to inspect also the statistics regarding the single categories on Kickstarter, which will give you the chance to see if your project's category could be successful and appreciated by Kickstarter.

It's obvious that every campaign performs differently and that some categories may be more popular and be more competitive, while others are the opposite and may not work on Kickstarter. Call it a part of your market research, this will give you a great hint of whether your product may work or not.

When you're in the statistics section of Kickstarter, you can dig more into them by clicking on the “See categories” button to see all the categories with their data. There are a total of 15 categories ranging from music to food or technology, there's room for every project!

(Actually, you'll be surprised but the most funded category on Kickstarter in 2022 was music, with more than 33 thousand of successfully funded projects!)

At this moment now you will search for your project's category and analyze all the data in front of you, like how many campaigns were successfully funded, how many of them raised more than $1,000 or more than $10,000 and so on...

Don't be discouraged about the numbers you see and if they don't match your expectation, every campaign is different and you must work towards getting the most out of your campaign!

Remember that it's more likely to get your funding when you're pursuing a realistic goal because you’ll set reasonable goals and expect fewer people to convert to backers.

If you’ve got a product in the tech industry, you can expect it to get more than $20,000. However, you'll mostly find a competitive territory here and you'll need to differentiate yourself because the success rate in this niche is only 22% (the lowest success number among other categories)

In this way, you may risk finding a solution to a relatively little problem for a small audience.

That's why I always advise conducting strict market research in order to see if there's space and need in the market for your project or idea.

4. TIME TO MAKE YOUR PROJECT REALITY

I hope that these statistics will inspire you to launch your own project, because no matter which industry you’re going to get into, you can make your project into reality with Kickstarter.

You’re more likely to succeed in a crowdfunding campaign than launching a product on your own with an e-commerce.

The most important tips to start a crowdfunding start from market research and then an accurate pre-launch phase building.

Keep in mind these fundamental steps to stand out and launch your campaign on Kickstarter:

1) Build your community: You will need a following before launching your campaign! If you do, you’ll already have a warm audience who trusts you and will most likely back your project

2) Build your email list: Keep in mind that emails convert at least three times better than social media channels. And that’s the main reason you need to build an email list. By doing so, you'll create your own niche of followers and potential backers to update weekly or monthly.

3) Communication is key: Having friends and family ready to back your campaign is not enough, what you need for a successful campaign is an engaged community that feels part of the project. You can interact with them through a Facebook Group doing live streaming answering their questions. That way the backers will trust you and be part of the process.

4) Create professional content: Building an audience is possible even through the creation of catchy and professional content advertising your upcoming project. Try to stand out and make people involved in what you're creating. This will give backers faith in you and your project.
