Think of Indiegogo InDemand as a solution that bridges the gap between crowdfunding and e-commerce. In this case, you don't have all the complications to set up an entire e-commerce and it will work just like crowdfunding, and you're already good at that!
Don't worry if you had run your campaign on Kickstarter, because the InDemand program is available both to those who launched their campaign on Indiegogo, as well as Kickstarter.
Indiegogo inDemand will really help you to keep capitalizing on your success in multiple ways: you can keep raising money while you start producing and delivering your product, you can expand the reach of your project, you can reach new potential backers and you can keep building brand awareness.
What's amazing it's that is so easy to get started and you can be up and running in just some clicks away. Let's see how to do that step by step.
Indiegogo InDemand campaign page provides a unique form of social validation from your backers and allows you to build upon this page post-campaign as you interact with and grow your community.
If you're coming from a Kickstarter campaign creating your InDemand page is easy, just follow these steps:
1. Start with a draft: you can transition into InDemand by simply creating a draft of your InDemand page using the content for your original campaign.
2. No fancy format: Don't worry about the formatting of your page, the campaign duration or the goal. There is no goal or duration with Indiegogo InDemand.
3. Contact Indiegogo Team: After you set up a draft be careful to don't launch the page yet, contact the Indiegogo team first. If you don't, your page will not be reflected as an InDemand page and you will have to recreate it.
4. Submit your draft: Now it's time to send the link of your campaign draft to indemand@indiegogo.com, be sure to attach also the link to your previous campaign, for approval and confirmation of previous funds. Indiegogo team will then convert your campaign to an InDemand page and send you a confirmation email.
5. Take care of the page: Once your InDemand page is accepted you can now update the page with your own images, graphics, text etc. Make it your own and catchy, just like your previous campaign page.
6. Start: As soon as your original campaign ends go live with InDemand to capitalize on the momentum. Set up a redirect button from your original campaign page and update your community about your move to InDemand.
If you had run your original crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo the process is much more simple:
1. Before the campaign goes live check the box ''Opt-In InDemand'' on the last step of the campaign editor
2. After hitting your goal you will automatically be moved to Indiegogo InDemand, be sure to optimize it for the InDemand stage and continue raising funds without a deadline or fixed goal.
As simple as that!
Now you're ready to go, your page is all set up. It doesn't matter if you're still running the Kickstarter campaign, you can begin the transferring process, of course, you must have already reached your goal or plan to reach it for certain, otherwise, you cannot apply for InDemand.
Some creators prefer to set the page well ahead, while others take some time between the two campaigns to assess and make a plan, that is totally up to you, but make sure to not lose the momentum and keep the engagement going. That's why many creators prefer to start immediately.
It is fundamental to keep your backers engaged during the transition, send out frequent updates to keep backers informed, and attract new visitors to InDemand.
What you should do practically is:
1. Send Updates: edit the text on your Kickstarter page and include a link to your InDemand page.
2. Add something new: you can fix, add or modify your perks, it's very common to add some new perks on the InDemand page, in order to create excitement and offer something new.
3. Give more info: Help your followers understand what is Indiegogo InDemand, why your campaign is continuing to raise funds and request their support. Inform and reach them out via email, social platforms, and all the channels you use to address your audience.
4. Create interest: You're starting a new project, and with that comes another round of advertising and storytelling for new interested people, tell your story and add all the successful milestones you've reached while your first campaign was live.
This is it for today, make sure to follow these steps to create your Indiegogo InDemand and transfer your successful Kickstarter campaign to this amazing e-commerce page.
It is very important to continue leveraging the momentum you've created with the first campaign and continue selling your product to interested people who didn't have the chance to back your campaign.
A crowdfunding launch requires a lot of hard work and sacrifices, but I'm sure that it will be worth it in order to start making your dream project come true.
