Natalie reached more than 6000 emails in just two months. How was that possible?
In today's video, we'll get to listen to Natalie's experience about launching her first crowdfunding campaign, and how she managed to reach this successful goal. At first, she had no experience in this field, and about all that concerns Facebook Ads, leads collection, and email list building.
When we had our first consultancy call, Natalie and her team were about to hit the wrong path, they had no strategy, no community and most importantly, they were not following the right pre-launch phase.
The following content is an exctract from a post that Natalie published on my Facebook Group.
This sums up her experience and the purpose about her first crowdfunding campaign!
''I'm Natalie, me and my team at The Suga Project Foundation are in full-blown pre-launch mode for our upcoming crowdfunding campaign. We would not be where we are without the consultation of Mattia. We are on a mission to transform the way type 2 diabetes is self-managed, especially for women, as they are the gatekeepers of health in their families and communities. Sadly, the US healthcare system does not support comprehensive lifestyle programs necessary to transform the relationship women have with diabetes. However, it can be lifesaving!''
''We want to provide this comprehensive lifestyle change resource to as many as possible regardless of ability to pay - this is where our crowdfunding campaign comes in.''
''Under the direction of Mattia, currently, we are running a successful email lead generating campaign through Facebook ads. I have to say it's been challenging with ups and downs, but every time we've done a check-in with Mattia, he seems to go in laser-focused like a "surgeon" showing us the problem and how to fix it. Things like monitoring/analyzing our landing page website traffic with Hotjar, doing re-targeting ads, adjusting the percentage for lookalike audiences, etc.''

What can we learn from Natalie's story is what I always tell to my clients and students:
1. The Pre-launch phase is the most important step to take care of, before even thinking about launching a crowdfunding campaign. This is going to give you the right direction to follow in order to reach your successful goal.
2. Be careful with managing Facebook ads on your own without proper preparation before. It is a misconception to think that creating ads is a simple thing, you're not going to nail the right target if you don't have enough experience and it will turn out a complete waste of money! And you don't want that, right?
3. These preparations and competencies could lead you in the right direction for your project, but make sure to combine these kinds of knowledge with a communication strategy made appositely for your target audience.
The main concern with Natalie's campaign was: not following the right directions about the next phase: keeping the audience warm and engaged.
It is wrong to think that collecting tons of email will let your campaign run for itself, the main problem is that people want and need to feel engaged and be part of the project, this means to cover them with the right amount of attention for example, sending newsletters, keeping them updated on the progression of the project and so on... This is the main problem that Natalie had and for this reason, she didn't manage to reach her full campaign goal.
Make sure to keep in mind what are the most important step to take when you decide to run a proper crowdfunding campaign for your project.
